West Baden Springs National Historic LandmarkWest Baden Springs National Historic Landmark Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) Looking like a fairy-tale castle, the West Baden Springs Hotel has drawn nationwide interest. In the early 1990s, the interest was concern over the long-vacant and collapsing condition of the southern Indiana landmark. In 1996, Bill and Gayle Cook, Indiana industrialists and preservationists, were recruited by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana to help rescue the property. They funded and managed a $34 million stabilization and partial renovation, returning the exteriors of all the buildings to pristine condition and restoring the vast domed atrium, lobby and dining room to gilded glory.
