Butler University was founded in 1855 by attorney and abolitionist Ovid Butler. Butler University occupies 20 buildings on 290 acres in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood of Indianapolis.
Butler Student Organizations are comprised of over 100 special interest student groups, including eight national sororities and eight national fraternities; music, dance and theatrical performance groups; a student newspaper, yearbook and literary magazine; academic clubs and honor societies; and a student-run television station.
The Butler Bulldogs Athletic teams compete in 19 NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports. Intercollegiate, intramural and club team sports offered at Butler include: basketball, baseball, crew, cross country, equestrian team, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and volleyball. Sports facilities include the Hinkle Fieldhouse, Bulter Bowl, Bulldog Park, Butler Bubble and Varsity Fields.
Clowes Memorial Hall, is one of the finest Performing Arts facilities in the Midwest and home to the Butler Ballet and Butler Symphony Orchestra.

Parking on Campus:
Designated visitor parking is available throughout campus. If you are unable to find a visitor parking space, a temporary parking permit is available from the Butler University Police Department (Jordan Hall, lower level) or the Office of Admission (Robertson Hall).
