Indianapolis Skyline

Indianapolis is a big city with small town values. Dowtown Circle Center Mall and Canal Walk have everything you would want with hotels, shopping, restaurants, and bars, and is a great area for renting bicycles, gondolas, and horse and carriages.  It’s also a very safe place to be in at night.  A walk downtown along the beautiful canal lined with museums, art and architecture is a treat for all visitors.  One of the most unique features in the center of the city is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument of the Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum.  There are many fine restaurants in downtown and close to the Indiana Convention Center and the Circle Center Mall - which is one of the area’s most notable shopping destinations.  There are many live music venues in the ever-growing range of clubs and restaurants, from good dives to 4-star halls.   The Pacers and the Colts and the Indianapolis Indians at Victory field are top teams providing exciting games and lots of action. The Children’s Museum,  the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Botanical Garden, the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA), the State Museum and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art provide plenty of intellectual stimulation for all ages.  Across the street from the IMA is popular Crown Hill Cemetery known for its beauty and the legendary folk who lay in rest there.  Indy  is dotted with great parks - Eagle Creek is one of the biggest and best.  There are numerous day trips worth taking: Columbus is renowned for it’s architecture, and is about 45 miles south of Indy. Fifteen miles west  is Nashville, a little arts-and-crafts town in Brown County with lots of shops, the Brown County Park, and all the hills that make Brown County famous in the fall.  If you have kids and the money, you may consider staying at the area’s indoor waterpark hotel, Caribbean Cove by Holiday Inn.
